The Competition is open to pianists of any nationality who are aged 17 but under 31 years of age on the 16th July 2008. It is not open to previous first prizewinners of the Sydney International Piano Competition.

Admission will be limited to a maximum of thirty six (36) applicants. A selection committee will be responsible for the choice of competitors from the applications received, following live international auditions.
